Pope Leo XIV centres his 2026 World Mission Sunday message on the theme “One in Christ, united in Mission.” Drawing from his papal motto In Illo uno unum (“In the One, we are one”), he emphasises that the Church’s missionary work flows from our communion with Christ and with one another.

He reminds the faithful that the more deeply we are united to Christ, the more effectively we can carry out the mission he entrusts to us — the proclamation of the Gospel to all peoples. Mission is not merely activity; it is participation in Christ’s life and love.

Pope Leo calls every baptised person to renew their commitment to the Church’s mission, especially in this 100th anniversary year of World Mission Sunday. He urges Catholics to support the missionary efforts of the Church through the Pontifical Mission Societies, encouraging prayer, solidarity, and generous material support for communities where the Church is young or still growing.

At the heart of his message is a simple truth: in Christ we are one, and united in him we are sent.
